The Great Resignation: Outsource or Fight to Retain Employees?

The Great Resignation, or so-called The Big Quit, during which workers walk out their jobs voluntarily. Statistics indicate that over 31 per cent of employees plan to quit their current job this year.

The mass resignation is said to have been caused by burnout following prolonged lockdowns and changing expectations around workplace culture. As a result of the COVID pandemic, professional staff went in search of better wages and benefits, a healthier work/life balance, or some combination of all of these factors.

Talent is expensive. However, it is also possible to find highly competent team members working overseas but at a rate considerably below what the same level of skill would cost in Australia. Outsourcing to Vietnam could then become a crucial part of that transformation and growth, especially when Australian firms are not ready to ‘break the bank’ to keep their employees.

It’s time to embrace the change, and we all need to adapt to a whole new way of operating. It would be worthwhile to engage with a remote workforce to scale up your businesses.
