Which outsourcing model suits your practice?
Using an overseas outsourcing provider might greatly improve your business efficiency and give you competitive edge.
But which outsourcing model would work best for your firm? Let’s go through some thoughts on 2 major outsourcing models.
When to choose dedicated team model
- You already have an in-house team. There is someone in your team to guide/train the remote team members.
- You can keep the remote staff productive. You must be good at managing staff remotely. Out of sight and off-site does not mean out of mind.
- You need a more cost-effective model. This model costs less than “per job” model.
- Having said that, there are some disadvantages such as:
• Takes longer time (from 6 months) for remote team to integrate with your firm;
• Barriers such as culture, language, commitment;
• Staff turnover. You might need to re-train new team members.
When the “per job” model works best
- You have limited resources. This model works well if you have a limited in-house staff or no team at all.
- Your in-house team is busy working on core services. This allows your team to focus on higher profitability services and improve service level to clients.
- You do not have to manage the remote team member. You would be in better position when managing the jobs instead of the team member in the other side of the world.
- You might have to pay more for this model. However, as you charge your clients on this model, it is easier to monitor the costs.
